Everyone Needs to Speak Up

Everything is terrible. The state of this country is unfathomably divided, angry, and violent. I have seen people arguing in comment sections over the appropriate way to kill a non-violent American citizen. That’s where we’re at, as a country.

There will always be an issue of bias in the age of social media. It will seem like everyone within my algorithmic space is in agreement. But I understand someone else’s opposing views will get different results.

This is why now is the time for everyone to speak up. I imagine if you’re a human being, with a sense of morality and understanding, you’ll probably route for non violence. I think people who are “famous” often feel the need to sit out. Hiding behind the idea that “no one wants to hear me.” But, this isn’t the time.

Is this your county? Your citizens? YOUR AUDIENCE? You need to stand up and say something. Silence is literally deadly. This is the end of the line. Your stories, music, reality tv, and films aren’t saving anyone right now.

I have seen a handful of celebrities or people with notoriety say something, and I thank them. But it’s not enough. Every single person needs to stand up. The United States is living under fascism, and your “art” won’t survive it. So even if you think the longevity of your commodified output is most important to you, you need to speak up. Because if you don’t, you’ll be censored. And whatever freedoms you lose, your audience and your community will lose them ten fold.

If they get loud, we get louder.
